Sources reports that, Rahman said the song would go beyond Canadian pop singer Shakira’s chart-buster for this year’s soccer 2010 FIFA World Cup ‘Waka Waka’.But Rehman refused to give details about the song ‘Yaaro India bula liya’. AR Rahman didn’t reveal much because he want the crowd to sing along with them at the CWG opening ceremony. The theme song was discussed and composed by A. R. Rahman, directed by Shyam Benegal and produced Bharat Bala. The 2010 Commonwealth Games are the nineteenth Commonwealth Games, and the ninth to be held under that name. The Games are scheduled to be held in Delhi, India between 3 October and 14 October 2010. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman launched he theme song for Commonwealth Games 2010, Titled, ‘Swagatham’. While the Group of Ministers (GoM) on the Games had approved the song. Bharat Bala, Creative Director who worked with A R Rahman in his earlier projects like ‘Vandemataram’, said the CWG theme song would be the proudest aspect of India’s cultural heritage. A R Rehman’s ”Swagatam”, dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, that is going to mark opening ceremony of 2010 Commonwealth Games. “Swagatam” directed by filmmaker Shyam Benegal and produced by Bharatbala.
